Welcome to the web home of the Heart of Dixie Amateur Radio Society... HODARS is a new club, based in western Lee County, Alabama. W4HOD formed in the last several months and we are working on unrolling the coax so to speak and getting everything organized. HODARS meets monthly, on the second Tuesday, at the Loachapoka Community Club House. The club sends our sincere thanks to Larry Justice, mayor of Loachapoka and to the town council. HODARS is very appreciative of the Loachapoka Community Club and Syrup Sopping Day at Loachapoka for making their facilities available for our club activities. We are currently working on designing and building the club station at the clubhouse. This will allow society members to maintain an important presence and provide communications for the western part of Auburn and the Loachapoka area during emergency situations and other events. Our station antenna is a Cushcraft R8. The R8 is now installed and was well broken in during the CQ WW RTTY contest. 2008 is becoming a very good year for W4HOD. We have been visited by several potential members who liked what they saw with our group and the atmosphere of the club. The club finances continue to grow with generous donations by club members. We now have two computer systems at the club house which makes contesting and other projects much easier. For info on events and dates, check our calendar located on the Events page.
